Manly Palmer Hall (1901–1990) was a Canadian-born author, lecturer, and mystic best known for his teachings on philosophy, religion, and esoteric traditions. He gained international recognition in 1928 with the publication of The Secret Teachings of All Ages, a vast encyclopedia of ancient wisdom, symbolism, and occult knowledge. Over his lifetime, Hall delivered thousands of lectures on topics ranging from comparative religion and metaphysics to mysticism and the hidden meaning of myths. In 1934, he founded the Philosophical Research Society in Los Angeles, a nonprofit dedicated to the study and preservation of spiritual and cultural wisdom.
